Today’s Dress!

30 Nov

My pick of the day is this beauty by Reverie by Melissa Sweet. A simple silhouette is accented by a beautiful and unique floral detail at the neckline. I also love a tie around the waist! Not sure if I’d wear it with the hat though 🙂

Trend Watch: Men’s Style

30 Nov

More and more we are seeing grooms and groomsmen have as much fun with wedding style as the ladies. There are so many great trends out there to give your guy’s look a little something extra. So long are the days when renting a standard tux was, well…standard. Here’s a few ideas to get you thinking:

– Jackets with no tie
– Shirt and vest, no jacket – w/ tie or not
– Sport coat with complimenting but different color pants
– Suspenders and fedoras
– Groom in a different color suit than groomsmen
– Patterned shirts or ties
– Bow ties! They come in so many fun prints and can really add a dose of personality
– Fun socks
– Sneakers with suits – I had just my nephews wear black Converse with their suits at my weddings and it was super cute!
– Mismatched combinations that all tie together somehow

Our Wedding Sneak Peak!

30 Nov
See a sneak peek of me and Charlie’s wedding in July on the Kirkbride’s blog. The story behind our wedding pic fiasco is that our poor photographers experienced a freak power surge, that despite their precautionary measures that were up to industry standards, fried their hard drives and we lost ALL of our wedding pictures. It’s taken me several months to be able to say that with out crying. I put a lot of work into our wedding to make sure the details were perfect. The wedding party looked so amazing and the location and day was gorgeous. Our photographers organized a re-shoot at out location in Chagrin Falls, OH and we were able to capture some portraits of Charlie and I as well as some wedding details. They are also editing pictures collected from all our friends and family. I will do a full post when I have all the pics, but here is a fun one I love!!

The candle detail with the hanging mason jars from this charming tent reception. Such a neat idea! See more of this quaint  wedding filled with delicious details on the 100 Layer Cake blog.

Today’s Dress!

29 Nov

My pick for today is this saucy little number from Priscilla of Boston. I almost fainted when I saw the little sheer sleeves with the lace applique. It screams old hollywood glamour to me. Oh and please click the Priscilla of Boston link above to go to the website and look at the back for some more almost fainting. Gorgeous for so many reasons!

Inspiration: A Rustic Winter

29 Nov

Now that Thanksgiving is over my mind is on winter! It’s my second favorite season behind fall and there are so many winter elements that can contribute to a beautiful wedding design. The three elements I used to give this board a rustic winter feel are birch trees, pine cones and warm knits. The birch and pine cone give the design a natural and rustic feel and the knit accents create warmth and coziness. I stuck with a very neutral color palette of creams and beiges – looks so pretty against the wood texture of the pine cones. How cool is the pine cone constructed centerpiece by Martha Stewart? I’m welcoming this winter with open arms!

This centerpiece from a wedding featured on Style Me Pretty today, photographed by M Photography. Sometimes the simplest centerpieces are the prettiest. These could be made simply by wrapping patterned paper or fabric around a can. It’s winter, which means soup season so start saving those cans!
