DIY: Picnic Flatware Roll

14 Jan

I love details that make a place setting unique and customized so when I was working on the Berry Charming Picnic inspiration and came across this picnic flatware roll DIY on Make It Do, I had to share. Now you’d have to be a little crafty with a sewing machine – which I am not! This would be adorable for a wedding if you start making one a day. If that seems like too much work, they’d also be really cute for a something smaller like a shower or engagement party! It would be cute to do different fabrics that coordinate.

DIY: Citrus Pomander Ball

22 Dec

Ok, so I just had to share this DIY because it actually has a personal story for me. My mom, who passed away when I was 10, was the manager at a designer store in Soho called Morgan LeFay. One holiday season she was in charge of the store-front window. The style of the store was very simple and minimalist. I don’t know how she came up with the idea, but she made probably a dozen of these pomander balls and suspended them from the ceiling with gold and white ribbon and different lengths. Unlike these here from Martha Stewart, she covered the whole orange in cloves (and I helped – my little fingers were very sore). It looked so pretty and the store was filled with the amazing aroma. My mom was no domestic goddess, but I will never forget how cool I thought it was that she had this great design idea! These pomanders make great gifts or great holiday decor and trust me, they smell aaaamazing! Give it a try! Learn how here.
