Inspiration: Tropical Destination Glam

4 May

I am a big fan of today’s board, mostly because it’s for a real bride. This friend of mine knew what she wanted, but just needed a little help putting it into a cohesive board. She is having a destination in Puerto Rico with the ceremony on the beach and reception on the pool deck of the resort. She loves turquoise and pink and had an image in her head of a pink orchid against a turquoise ocean. She wanted it to be modern with a little bit of glam. She provided some great centerpiece pics – I love the blue plexi glass with the coral and candles! I thought that square chargers and bold graphic print napkins were a great way to keep the table settings modern. And how cute is the message in a bottle seating card idea? I know this wedding is going to be beautiful and I can’t wait to see pics!

Inspiration to Reality Shoot on Style Me Pretty: My Modern Clementine

2 May

Good morning and happy Monday! In case you missed it a couple days ago, Style Me Pretty featured an inspiration shoot based on our “My Modern Clementine” inspiration board. Contributors included Bliss Wedding and Event Design and Merriment Design. It has a super cool mod 1960s vibe – so chic I love it! Here are some sneak peak pics but  be sure to check out the whole gallery.

Spring Bouquet Inspiration (Part II): Blushing Blooms

26 Apr

Continuing my week of spring bouquet inspiration with beautiful pale pink hues. Arguably one of the most popular floral shades – I guess there are just a lot of girly girls out there. There are so many pink flowers out there. If you want to be a little different maybe steer clear of the go-tos like peonies, roses and ranunculus. Challenge you florist to come up with some alternate blooms like sweet peas, dahlias, astilbe or tulips.

Freshly Picked: David Austin Roses

14 Feb

In the spirit of Valentine’s day, holiday of the rose, I wanted to do a little spotlight post on my very favorite variety of rose, the David Austin rose.  There are soooo many rose varieties to choose from, but I find these roses by the famous English rose breeder to be the most beautiful of all. In fact, I took a picture of a bouquet with David Austin roses to my florist, without knowing what they were and he identified them immediately then was quick to tell me they are out of my price range. Well, one day when I win the lottery I am going to fill my house top to bottom with these blooms. You should take a minute and check out his website because its really quite fascinating – you can even order them for growing in your own garden. There are so many beautiful colors and variations you won’t know where to look first. Here are some beautiful bouquets and centerpieces incorporating David Austin roses…

Freshly Picked: Citrus Bouquets!

7 Feb

I just love bouquets that incorporate citrus fruits. It’s so summery and cheery to add some lemons, limes or oranges to your flowers. I love the one in the middle that incorporates rosemary. Bet it smells amazing!

These bouquets I stumbled upon from a D Magazine article. They are complete with wildflowers, succulents and artichokes! The presentation is also so pretty. Placing a bouquet on the open pages of a vintage book would make for a great photo!

Baby’s breath! It’s much more beautiful on its own than as a filler for other flowers. It can be rustic or elegant. And the best part is that it’s inexpensive!
