The Look: Tropical Destination Glam

4 May

To go along with today’s destination inspiration board, here is a little fashion/style inspiration. The bride to be wanted a flowy white gown and loved this bouquet of mixed pinks. Borrowing the pale pink shades from the bouquet would be perfect for nails and makeup. I love a chunky pair of bold turquoise earrings to add a pop of color to the look. If it’s a beach ceremony, a pair of turquoise jeweled sandals would be fab and then maybe a pair of heels for dancing the night away on resort the pool deck (at least until you just give up and go barefoot).

Today’s Dress: Jenny Yoo (Spring 2012)

21 Apr

Today’s dress is a flowy Jenny Yoo gown. I was really drawn to the uniqueness of the bodice. It’s a strapless bodice with a draped halter that comes out of the waistline which minimalistic floral belt. Each part is simple on its own but together it’s all quite striking and I think it’s a very romantic dress!

The Look: Colorblocking for Bridesmaids

20 Apr

Colorblocking is probably the biggest spring/summer fashion trend this year. Of course I love it because it’s a celebration of color on color that otherwise might be thought of as clashy. I think one could have a lot of fun incorporating this trend into a bridesmaid look. Depending on the style of the dress, the trend can be edgy, modern, or preppy. Here are some picks I think would make fabulous bridesmaids dresses. If it’s too avant-garde for your wedding then maybe a shower or rehearsal dress??

Today’s Dress: Vera Wang (Spring 2012)

14 Apr

Today’s dress is my Vera Wang Spring 2012 collection pick! I feel as though Vera is going to become more famous for her hued dresses than her white ones. She is killing it with these romantic shades of non-white dresses. Naturally my favorite off the runway is this neutral toned beauty. I love the mix of beige and taupe. The bodice is so perfectly structured and the belt is not to feminine to compete with the girly ruffles at the bottom. I’m in LOVE.

Today’s Dress: Carolina Herrera (Spring 2012)

12 Apr

The Martha Stewart Weddings Dress Gallery does such a great job of putting up dress collection right off the runway so my next two weeks of Today’s Dress posts will probably be my favorite dresses from the new 2012 collections from there. Just to warn you! Today it’s the amaaazing Carolina Herrera. Let me count the ways I love this gown. Not only is it a sweetheart neckline with sheer overlay and adorable little sleeves, but oh that lace detailing on the sheer overlay! It’s so pretty and sweet. Kind of a modern take on a wedding dress you might have seen in the 50’s. I LOVE it!

The Look: Mint Green

11 Apr

Mint green as a wedding color is making such a comeback. As a pastel, it’s a great spring wedding color. It’s fresh, unexpected and oh so retro! I’m seeing mint green bridesmaids dresses popping up all over the place. A bride rocking mint green pumps and a matching clutch would be adorable. What do you think of this color? Love it or hate it?

Today’s Dress!

4 Apr

Today’s dress is by Stephanie James Couture. If you are unfamiliar with her collection – it’s vintage style dresses including suits, tea length dresses and a few long gowns. The Josephine is my favorite and perfect since we are talking about ribbons today anyway. I LOVE the faux ribbon effect against the lace. It’s so adorable and different. It makes the dress sweet and playful. Love it!
