Thirsty Thursday: Vodka Watermelon Cooler

5 May

This looks so darn refreshing and delish! Vodka, triple sec, lime and pureed fresh watermelon make this a perfect little summer treat. Served with a little watermelon slice garnish, this would be the perfect signature drink for a hot summer day soiree! Get the recipe at Dine and Dish via Epicurious.

Thirsty Thursday: Cucumber Ginger Fizz

14 Apr

Mmmm. I love cucumber and I love ginger. Two very refreshing flavors. So when I saw this Cucumber Ginger Fizz cocktail from Martha Stewart I had to pick it. Such a perfect spring or summer drink. I love the presentation with the English cucumber slices. Great as a signature drink and I think it would make a great bridal shower drink too. But it has vodka in it, so not so much if you are having a bridal shower brunch because vodka before noon is called alcoholism.

Thirsty Thursday: Irish Coffee

17 Mar

Top o’ the mornin’ to ya! I know that was awful cheesey, forgive me. Well it’s St. Patty’s and Thirsty Thursday which is so appropriate! This week’s signature drink is an Irish coffee. My nana Bridget would be so proud. This signature drink unlike most others would be served after dinner. It’s the perfect little treat almost like a cocktail and dessert in one. There are a lot of Americanized Irish coffee recipes with Bailey’s and creme de menthe to make it green on top. But the traditional drink is made with coffee, IRISH whiskey, whipping cream and brown sugar. Here is recipe from Chow.com. Oh how I love and Irish coffee. Warms you up from the inside out. Happy drinking!

Thirsty Thursday: Vodka Thyme Lemonade

10 Mar

A signature drink really captures my attention if it has an unusual ingredient and pretty presentation. This one has both those things. Thyme is one of my favorite herbs so I am interested to try this Vodka Thyme Lemonade from Martha Stewart. It sounds like it could be surprisingly tastey and refreshing. I love the presentation of the big pitcher with the thyme sprigs in it. Great for a party or bridal shower! And the thyme infused syrup can be made ahead of time which is always a plus when entertaining!

Thirsty Thursday: Gin & Grapefruit Cocktail

10 Feb

Today’s signature cocktail from Gourmet was chosen to compliment today’s Sunset on the Shoreline inspiration board. The peach pink color and refreshing citrus flavor are perfect for a warm summer night on the beach. This cocktail is simple with only three ingredients: grapefruit juice, gin and vermouth making it easier to create in mass quantity than some other more complex cocktails and it’s oh so pretty even without any fancy garnishes – not to say you couldn’t add one!

From Gourmet: In a cocktail shaker combine 1/4 cup each of gin and grapefruit juice, 1 tablespoon dry vermouth and a little crushed ice. Cover the container, shake the mixture well, and strain it into a stemmed glass over ice cubes. Makes 1 drink.

Thirsty Thursday: Cheeky Rose Cocktail

3 Feb

Today’s signature cocktail is the Cheeky Rose Cocktail courtesy of The Knot. I just thought the presentation was so striking with the pale pink color and the rosemary sprig. It sounds refreshing too!

What You Need:
Handful of rosemary leaves
1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz. honey syrup (equal parts honey dissolved in water)
1 oz. gin
1 oz. rose wine
Rosemary sprigs, for garnish

How to Make It:
Muddle rosemary leaves in lemon juice and honey syrup.
Add ice, gin, and rose wine and shake well.
Strain over ice into a rocks glass.
Garnish with rosemary sprigs.

Thirsty Thursday: Bing Cherry Mojitos

27 Jan

So my creative little hubby came up with the idea to do a weekly Thirsty Thursday post where I feature a signature cocktail idea. Nine out of ten of his blog ideas are questionable, but this was actually a really good one. So today I present the first Thirsty Thursday signature cocktail – Bing Cherry Mojitos! The presentation is pretty (the color is rich and its an excuse to use a punch bowl) and they sound delicious. So if you’re having a summer wedding, consider serving up a glass! Find the Martha Stewart recipe here.
